Symposia on“Understanding the fascinating brain”

The program of Neuroscience and Neurotechnology under the aegis of the Department of Paramedical Sciences, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, SGT University, organised a Symposium on the theme “Understanding the Fascinating Brain” on Saturday, 10th December, 2022. The theme was convened to get a better understanding of one of the most fascinating organ of the human body, the Brain. The symposium was organised to not only enhance the knowledge of present students about how our brain controls our body functions and its physiology, but also to create awareness about the Neuroscience and Neurotechnology field in order to attract young and talented minds to choose this field as a career.

The first talk of the symposium was by Prof Neera Chaudhry, Head of Neurology Department, VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi. She delivered a lecture on ‘Epilepsy and ketogenic diet’. Thereafter, Prof Rajat Sandhir, Department of Biochemistry, Punjab University, Chandigarh, gave an insightful lecture on ‘Heat and pain sensing pathways’. This was followed by an informative talk on the ‘Preoptic orchestra of sleep’ by Prof H.N. Mallick, Head of Department of Physiology, SGT University, Gurugram. The symposium ended with a very interesting and motivating lecture by Dr. Sushil Jha, Associate Professor, School of Life Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, on the topic ‘Phantoms in the brain’. Dean, FAHS, Prof Hussain also shared his thoughts with the students.
