
The Nutri-Care Association, Department of Nutrition & Dietetics, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, SGT University organized a community nutrition training programme on ‘value addition and food preservation” for the local women of Village KhurumpurKheda, Farrukhnagar, Gurgram on 5th February 2020.The programme was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Akanksha Yadav, Dr. G. B. Bhatt, Dr. Vatsala Saharan, Dr. Meenu Sirohi and Dr. Renu Shrestha, Faculty of Nutrition & Dietetics Department. Under this programme, undergraduate and post graduate students of Nutrition & Dietetics Department demonstrated various techniques of food preservation and value addition like formulation of apple jam, orange squash, bajra laddoo and namkeen sev. The women participants were also made aware about the harmful effects of packaged food items available in the market and benefits of value added food products made by the students. Participation certificates were distributed to all women participants by Dr. V. K. Govila, Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Science and Dr. Akanksha Yadav, Advisor, Nutri Care Association. Women participants were actively involved in various product formulations. The whole training programme was very encouraging for women participants as well as for the students. The participants appreciated the initiative taken by the Department of Nutrition & Dietetics of training to the rural folk and desired that such training programmes should be regularly conducted in future also.
