A workshop by Mr. Prem Kumar, HOD Optometry Sciences and Ms. Sonia Sharma, Faculty Optometrist at Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital was conducted in Hospital Auditorium SGT University Gurugram on Visual Assessment in Children at 11 a.m. onwards. After lamp lighting ceremony, welcome address was given by Ms. Nikita Sethi, Lecturer,Department of Optometry. The guest speakers were honored by presenting a sapling and a memento by Dr V K Govilla; Dean FAHS, Dr P Shingal;HOD Dept. of Ophthalmology, Prof A K Khurana; Dept. of Ophthalmology and Dr. Ashwani Ghai, Incharge Optometry. The guest speakershighlighted many procedures which could be considered in pediatric patients as well as patients with cortical visual impairment while prescribing them glasses. The students were given a hands-on demo for visual acuity assessment for pediatric patients. They emphasized the need of keeping patience while dealing with such patients. Students felt delighted as it was an inspiring interaction with a very experienced and senior faculty from one of the most reputed Institute of India, Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital.
The event concluded with the Vote of thanks by Dr. Ashwani Ghai, Assist. Professor, Dept. of Optometry and Advisor Oculus Academy.
