Industrial visit was organized by Faculty of Allied Health Science, Microbiology, SGT University on 16 March 2017 for the students of B.Sc Microbiology to one of the most well known industry in field of food testing, TÜV SÜD south Asia Pvt. Ltd, Udyog Vihar, Gurgaon. Mrs. Upasana Sharma and Mrs. Khushboo Chandra accompanied the students from SGT University. The students were introduced to Mr. Pradeep Gopinadhan, Head of department microbiology food division. The visit started with emphasis on food testing. Company’s role in food testing was explained. TÜV SÜD is a German MNC and holds important place in testing many types of food products based on several parameters like chemical, microbiological etc. This trip was very beneficial for the students as they were given demonstration of several test included in sample testing. Students observed tests being performed in the sterile area. They were also demonstrated positive and negative results of several organisms isolated from food samples. An insight on modern techniques used to develop more accurate and rapid methods for microbiological investigation was also demonstrated. To wind up, the visit scope of microbiology was discussed. The students were encouraged to reproduce the structure and functioning in microbiological testing of food.
