
Water is the most precious gift human ever got but in today’s scenario. We are exploiting it not only in terms of quantity but also in terms of quality. The time is not far away from now when there will be no water. To make our students aware and discuss the need of hour, a guest lecture on water conservation was organized by the Department of Environmental Science, FAHS. The program was inaugurated by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Sham Lal Singla who emphasized on the use of water wisely and the need of such talks in present scenario of the country. Dr. T. D. Dogra, Pro-Chacellor, also supported the same by focusing on avoidance of water contamination.
Dr. V. K. Govila, Dean, FAHS, welcomed the guest speaker. Our invited speaker Prof. (Mrs.) Rajesh Dhankhar from MDU, Rohtak inspired the students to save water, its conservation strategies, mitigation of use and importance of water conservation in a simple and lucid way. In the last, vote of thanks was given by Dr. Archana, HOD, FAHS. A number of faculties from various departments also attended the lecture. Students were quite enthusiastic and they participated well in the questioning, afterwards. Students questioned about packaged water problems and methods of water conservation which were addressed generously by the speaker. There was a discussion organised by the faculties about the legal aspects of water pollution, water availability, scarcity of water and governmental policies.
