
On the occasion of Food Festival and World Health Day, the Department of Nutrition & Dietetics, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, SGT University organized a guest lecture on 7th April 2017 by Mrs. Neelanjana Singh, President, Indian Dietetics Association, Delhi Chapter on topic “365 days of wellness”. The objective of the programme was to provide students and other health professionals with an understanding of the central role of nutrition in health and healing and holistic approach to wellness. Mrs. Neelajana Singh stressed on the importance of eating right and how decisions on food habits have a significant effect on our physical as well as mental health in long run. She also emphasized on 3 S i.e. stress, sleep and sustenance. The need to distress, one should sleep for 7 hours. Sleeping late leads to depression and last but not the least the medicinal valueto food that helps in healing. It was an interactive session. Students and faculty from various departments had an open interaction with her.
Overall session was highly motivating and learning for the audience that eating in balance and moderation is a tip for better quality of life. The Sapling was presented by Dr. Sham Lal Singla, Add. Pro Chancellor, SGT University. Dr Inderjit Singh Mann, Vice Chancellor, SGT University presented the Memento to the speaker as a token of love and gratitude.
In addition Dr. Kamlesh Kholi, Director, SGT University, Dr. Sarla Hooda, Dean Medicine & Health Sciences, Dr Indra Dhull, Dean Education, Dr. V.K.Govila, Dean Faculty of Allied Health Sciences also grace the occasion with their presence.
