A guest lecture by Prof. Urmil Chawla was delivered in TV Studio Dental Building, SGT University, Gurugram on Assessment of Visual Acuity in Children and Infantile Esotropia-An Update at 2 PM. After the lamp lighting ceremony, welcome address was given by Dr. Ashwani Ghai, assist. Professor Dept. of Optometry. The guest speaker was honored by presenting a sapling and a memento by Dr. V K Govilla, Dean FAHS, Dr. P Shingal HOD Dept. of Ophthalmology and Prof A K Khurana. The guest speaker, Professor in Regional Institute of Ophthalmology Pt. BD Sharma PGIMS Rohtak, heading the Squint and Oculoplasty unit laid emphasis that it is very important to assess visual acuity in small children who cannot read the normal Snellen chart because if amblyopia is detected in this stage, it becomes easy to treat. As the age increases the disease tends to become severe making management more and more difficult. Students felt delighted as it was an inspiring interaction with a senior faculty from a different university. The event concluded with the Vote of thanks by Dr. P Shingal HOD, Dept. of Ophthalmology.
