
A visit for BRIT 2nd year, BMLT 2nd year and BOTT 2nd & 3rd year students of Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, SGT University was organised to Columbia Asia hospital, Palam Vihar on 11.5.2017. The main objective behind the visit was to expose the students to various types of latest equipment in the field of Radio-Imaging Technology, Medical Lab Technology and Operation Theatre making them aware of knowing different procedures and Equipments. The students were accompanied by Ms. Shilpa Singh, Ms Nikita Khana, Dr. Manisha and Mr. Sundar Lal Yadav.
The BMLT students were introduced to the lab supervisor Ms. Jyoti Goswami, who introduced modern equipments and instrument used in sample testing to the students. The instruments included, cell counter- Beckman coulter. Instruments for diagnosing HIV infection and HPLC analysis were also described. For biochemical analysis like LFT, KFT, and lipid profile performed by unicel DXC800 was also shown. Students also observed the blood sample collection in phlebotomy section. They were also taken to the blood bank where they observed sample collection, processing and storage of donated blood.
The Managing Executive Mr. Ashish Kumar Chaubey of radiology department introduced the department to BRIT 2nd Year students including1.5T Siemens essence MRI with TRIM model along with 16 slices Siemens emotion CT scanner, Siemens mammography machine as well as x-ray equipment of Siemens with ALFA printer & three Ultrasonography machines are of Philips & one mobile Ultrasonography machine of GE.
The Bachelor and Diploma of Operation Theatre Technology students of 2nd and 3rd Year were exposed to various Operation Theatres. They also learned the handling of different Anaesthesia and Surgical equipments and maintenance of OT environment and maintaining procedures for Non Expendable items. Students also observed Heart and Lung Machine.
The students expressed that it was a very beneficial and learning experience for them. Students have wished for similar visits in future.
