On I8th April 2017, Students of Optometry [2nd, 3rd year and Interns] were taken to Essilor India Pvt Ltd Laboratory Okhla Delhi for an educational excursion. They were escorted by Dr Ashwani Kumar Ghai, Assist. Professor Deptt. Of Ophthalmology and Mr Surender, the Optometrist. All of them received a warm welcome from the top authorities of Essilor Company. After having a refreshment students were briefed about different processes involved in the manufacturing of spectacle lenses. Then they were divided in two batches, one was led by Mr Ankit Sakhuja Product Manager Varilux Lenses North India and the other by Mr Kulbhushan Senior Manager Professional Services North India and were exposed to different procedures in the processing unit. Afterwards Essilor company hosted a lunch for the students.
Students felt delighted as they were experiencing these techniques live for the first time. They learnt the details of the technique of manufacturing spectacle lenses.
The feedback of the students was taken. They were willing for such more educational excursions as it gives them a chance to learn something different.
