Allied Health Science is a branch of study that deals with various disciplines that train a student in a healthcare field, excluding the physician profession. They are the connecting wires in the multidisciplinary health team and boost patient services. The scope of Allied Health Sciences is increasing in the country.

The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences (FAHS) was established at SGT University with the motto to provide diagnostic, preventive and curative services. Allied Health professionals work with other medical professionals to identify, evaluate, prevent, and treat diseases and disabilities. Allied health professionals are significant contributors to delivering the best healthcare services to the masses.

The practitioners of Allied Health Sciences deal with the medical diagnostic techniques such as blood analysis, pathological analysis and radiography necessary in the medical field for the care of patients. Allied health workers play a significant role in providing effective care with diagnosis based on technology.

SGT University offers around 25 courses under the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences. These courses include undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate courses. These allied courses help bridge the market demand and the community’s demand for Allied Health professionals.

Sonographer

Medical professionals performing ultrasound scans to help diagnose patients are called sonographers. These professionals operate ultrasonic imaging equipment and may focus on particular specialities, such as OB/GYN, pediatric or abdomen sonography. They often work in hospitals, physicians’ offices and medical laboratories.

Phlebotomist

A healthcare professional who takes blood from individuals for diagnostic or donation purposes is called a phlebotomist. They work at physicians’ offices, diagnostic laboratories, hospitals or blood donation centres. They ensure patients feel comfortable and calm during this process. They also maintain paperwork about the same.

Medical Assistant

Medical assistants are those professionals who work under the guidance of doctors. They perform administrative and clinical duties like checking vitals, blood, vaccinations, etc. They also schedule appointments, record patients’ medical history, fill out billing forms and prepare patients for medical examinations.

There is a growing scope of allied health science in India.
