What is Helium Free MRI Systems

What is Helium Free MRI Systems

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the most useful technique to image soft tissue without using any ionizing radiation. MRI has complex instrumentation, elongated scan time, and multi-operator complications, and it also needs proper helium supply used as chelates in MRI equipment to maintain the superconductivity. There was an immediate requirement for a revolution to reduce the 900 kg vent pipe installation and convert the imaging control from multi-operator to single operator.

Philips has announced the launch of the Ingenia Ambition X 1.5T MR, the next offering in its portfolio of Ignitia MRI Technologies. BlueSeal’s fully-sealed magnet, the Ingenia Ambition X, is the world’s first MR system to enable helium-free operations, reducing the chance of potentially lengthy and costly disruptions and virtually eliminating the dependency on a commodity with an unpredictable supply.

Helium-Free MRI System combines productivity with high quality. BlueSeal magnet with innovations that can help reduce downtime enable single operator workflow and speed up exam times by up to 50%.

Philips BlueSeal is a fully sealed magnet designed to simplify your MR installation, reduce lengthy and costly disruptions in MR services, and help the department transition to sustainable helium-free operations. The sample is as shown in the figure below:

The fully-sealed magnet dramatically reduces the amount of liquid helium needed to cool the magnet to less than half a per cent of the current norm.  This result in significant operational benefits for our customers, including a smaller, lighter and more flexible installation footprint and a more efficient return to normal operations if an interruption in service should ever occur.

The Philips Ingenia Ambition X is an exciting step forward in its Blue Seal magnet and the significant operational and clinical benefits it delivers.
